Effective Leadership Through Emotional Intelligence

Because every employee is unique, leaders must be more sensitive and mindful to acknowledge and embrace the differences that their employees have.

These differences should also be strategically leveraged in order to create and maintain productive opportunities within the organization.

The differences in the workplace should be viewed as an advantage rather than a liability. Leaders need to handle and use these differences to assemble great teams and maximize unique talents and capabilities to boost team productivity and performance.

To put it simply, leaders need to be emotionally intelligent to be effective in maximizing the company's greatest asset – the employees.

One of the things that you can do to boost your emotional intelligence in the workplace is to care about other people. You may already care about your employees, but there maybe times that you are not expressing it properly. It is important to express your concern and care in a sincere and genuine manner.

As a leader, you need to be more compassionate and give due appreciation to those who deserve it. And to those employees who are lacking and not performing very well, take the time to mentor them. Show them that you want them to improve not just because their job requires it but because you want to see them grow and succeed.
